The life span of a yellow baboon is 27 years. It is a baboon from the Old World monkey family. The scientific name for a yellow baboon is Papio cynocephalus. There are three sub-species of yellow baboons, namely Papio cynocephalus cynocephalus, Papio cynocephalus ibeanus and Papio cynocephalus kindae. The yellow baboon has a slim body, long arms, legs and tail, and a coat of yellowish-brown hair. The yellow baboon resembles the Chacma baboon, but it is smaller in size than the latter and does not have as elongated a muzzle as the Chacma baboon. The face of a yellow baboon is black, framed with sideburns that are white in colour. They are native to eastern Africa, and are mainly found in countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana and Zimbabwe. They live in the savannah grasslands and the light forests of eastern Africa. Male yellow baboons can grow upto a maximum height of 84 centimetres, while the females can grow upto 60 centimetres.
