Pomegranate was traditionally made in to a syrup known as grenadine which was added to cocktails and martinis as a flavoring agent and to give the drink a reddish tinge; it was mixed with cocktails like Roy Rogers, Shirley Temple or Tequila Sunrise and was also served in combination with beer known as grena-beer.

In recent times a number of pomegranate flavored liqueurs have been introduced like Pomegranate Schnapps by Hiram Walker and PAMA Pomegranate Liquor, a mixture of tequila and vodka. Red Carpet Martinis which are a mixture of vodka, pomegranate juice and Grand Marnier has become a choice drink in many celebrity gatherings around the world.

Pomegranate liqueur mixes well with a variety of beverages from vodka and gin to tequila and champagne. Pearl Vodka has introduced a vodka called Persephone which is pomegranate flavored and is best for making martinis. Pomegranate liqueurs like PAMA along with club soda and lime make for a refreshing summer drink.
