According to the census of population in the month of July 2006, the population of the country was estimated to be approximately 14, 971, 000. Cambodia is ranked 63rd among all the countries in terms of its population.

    The capital and largest city of Cambodia is Phnom Penh. The official language spoken in Cambodia is Khmer. The democratic constitutional monarchy was declared an independent nation (from France) in the year 1949.
