Is The U.S. A Democracy Or A Republic?

The US is a democratic republic.  A republic is a country or state that is not ruled by a hereditary monarchy.  The citizens have an influence on the government.  The head of state can be, as in the case of ancient Rome, an emporer or a president appointed for life.  The UK is a republic in spite of the fact that there is a monarchy, because the monarchy is really only a ceremonial position.

A democracy is a government based on rule by a majority and the consent of the governed.  It encompasses the tenets that can be found in the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.  Protection of political minorities, free and fair elections, human rights, a plural political system, due process and a separation of powers are all guaranteed in our Constitution and are integral parts of a democratic government.

When combined, the US government is made up of features  of both a republic and a democracy.  Therefore, it can be considered a democratic republic.

The u.s government is a dictatorship because there is a president that the majority did not vote for using power and lives to gain control of the world. There is so much lying goin on in our government we try to make sense of their lies and it turns us against each other. They tell u they care about citizen as long as u live the right life then they impose things on people to force them to live an undecent life, this could mean prostitution, drug use or trafficing, and abuse. We do all kinds of things to try to get money and keep up with life but this country is set up for the ignorant. U see people with sense get bull dosed all the time and u see people who should be ashamed get away with things and thats why so many  people are lost. In order for this usa to be anything people have to start working together again for the greater good. Ex: Why not offer white or black business people oppurtunities like they did the Arabs. Now they over there killing the rest of them who don't want to live like the usa says they should. How can u free Iraq I never even heard them callin for help. But I saw a white man holdin a work for food sign. Hell he could've had a free store he deserves it more his ancestors started this system we live in he should be the last on staving. Or that black man who robbed the bank to pay his house off and take care of his family his ancestors helped build this country for free! He should be the last on starving. You see this country is not about doin right its about what friends we can make when we want to do some wrong greedy sh!t and get away with it. Arabs did not build or constuct this country so why do they have more opportunities than whites and blacks its a big bowl of BS. THATS WHY I SAY DEMOCRACLY REPUBLIC NO! DICTATORSHIP!~!!

I believe it is two fold taking in the consideration of the states which make up most of the democracy into when all states have come together as a majority then we have a republic in which we are governed

The U.S. Is suppose to be a republic. That's what the founding fathers wrote in article four, section four of the U.S. Constitution. In a democracy the majority rules so 51 percent of people tell the other 49 percent what to do.  In a republic everyone has their own individual rights that nobody can take away no matter how many people vote on it.
