Can Over Exercise Give You Panic Attacks?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Panic attacks are all due to anxiety. Panic attacks can last from five to 30 minutes and may include a variety of symptoms such as irregular heart beats to a feeling of dizziness and profuse sweating. It is a well known fact with scientists that there is a part of the brain called the Amygdala that controls anxiety levels. The Amygdale controls the anxiety switch which can be turned on in case of a real danger among normal people. However, when it turns on at inappropriate time that is without a valid reason, it can give panic attacks and phobias.

Actually panic attack symptoms are very close to the symptoms we get if we do strenuous exercise. On the contrary, one should exercise regularly but moderately at least at the beginning. People who have anxiety may think exercise will increase this and stop exercising. However, exercise can give a sense of happiness and well being which in turn will help in minimizing panic attacks and anxiety. Hence it is always suggested that people should continue to exercise however, as with every other thing, over doing the same should be avoided.
