How Is Windows 7 Different Than Windows Vista?

Answer Question

Vista is NT 6.0 and W7 is NT 6.1. So technically speaking, not much. Think of it as having more optimizations for various hardware and programs, slimmed down memory usage when running Aero (Vista double caches the display graphics is system RAM and Video RAM, where W7 does it just in Video RAM), better (more user friendly) default handling of UAC handling, slightly different user interface with some nifty new shortcuts. More group policies for domain joined computers.

By the benchmarks it offers no real tangible difference over Vista. By user feel, it seems to be a lot faster.
