The procedure for figuring out your login name may be different for each service provider. Simply look for help options in your login site or under FAQ's

It will ask you for birthday, ZIP/Postal code, Country or Territory, input from a Security Image and finally an option to input alternate email id you had given at registration. The Yahoo! ID information is then subsequently sent to your email address on verification of details provided.
Similarly, with Gmail, click on 'I cannot access my account', followed by 'I've forgotten my username'. Here it simply asks for secondary email address.
