    Vedic religion was the most ancient religion of ancient India. The religion was contemporary with the symphonies of the Vedas. The religion of that time was the pioneer of Hinduism. In the 15th century B.C or 1500 B.C, the religion of the Indo-European-speaking people penetrated in India. They were originated in that place of present day Iran. Their religion was a polytheistic system. Indra was the highest powered god in that system.

    The religion was involved with the worship of plentiful male divinities. The divinities were connected with the natural incidents as well as sky. Their ceremonies were generally centered on ritual sacrifice of animals. The tradition of using Soma was also to reach the trans-like states. In the early time of Vedic religion, the ceremonies were very complex. Due to this reason only trained Brahman's was to accomplish the ceremonies properly.

    In that time of Vedic religion, the concept of Atman and Brahman was developed. In the time of 8th -5th century B.C, the related concepts of reincarnation and Karma were spread. The concept of releasing from the rebirth cycle was also formed in that time. Meditation came in front in aspect of ceremonies rather than the tradition of sacrifice. It pointed out the end of Vedic period as well as the rise of Hinduism. The initiation ceremony of Hindus is called Upanayana. It is the direct survivor of Vedic religion.
