    Benjamin McLane Spock is also known as Doctor Spock. He was a pediatrician by profession and lived in America. He wrote a book "Baby and Child Care" in 1946 which turned out to be the biggest best seller books of all time. Its primary message to mothers all over the world was "You know more than you think you do".

    Spock was one of the first pediatricians to study Psychoanalysis and research on children's needs and family dynamics. His ideas and views helped parents throughout generations to bring up their kids. It showed them ways on how to go about certain things in child care. The book explained to parents that they should treat their children like individuals rather than sticking to the age old myth of discipline being the key to success. Dr Spock also served as a psychiatrist during World War II.
