Well like all other medical jobs, the ultrasound technician's job is also demanding. You need to be very dedicated and alert in order to be able to report correctly. Also, if you are good in sciences and technical things then it would be best for you to join this job. You would need to be on your toes all the time. However, there are not many emergency situations. The timings vary from hospital to hospital.

When you think of a career look into it first. Find out at the site to see if it's in demand.
Well let me tell you my story so you'll understand what I mean. I went to school for Medical Assistant, everyone also said it was a demanding job. After almost finishing school I went go to apply for jobs. In the hospitals they said they are not hiring MA positions. Our best luck is in a doctor's office. Almost every doctor's office you go to only have 2 staffs, what are our chances? We be lucky to get hire if a doctor opens a new practice. Our best luck is to apply for a private office or know someone in a hospital setting or a large clinic to get in. We get the tittle Medical Assistant and get hire for a position called "RECEPTIONIST' or "FILING CLERK" or "CABNET ORGANIZER". POOeeeh. Oh I live in California and I know there are many, many MA graduates that don't find jobs right after graduation.
Good luck to you whatever you find.
