My dog has a very sick looking nose. What is wrong with her?

Noses often get drier and more cracked looking in older dogs, or it may have just gotten sunburned. It's kind of like us getting chapped or sunburned lips. If there's no sign of infection, wash it and keep it coated with Bag Balm until it starts looking better.

She could have developed "collie nose". A dog does not have to be a collie to get this, BTW. It is the canine version of discoid lupus erythematosus. She may need a course of steroids from the vet if this is the correct diagnosis, and apply sun block cream in bright weather.
