There is always the possibility that a woman president will be elected in the United States, once one has been selected as candidate for the elctions by one of the two political parties. At present it seems that both parties are only interested in very rich white males. That may change in 2008 with Hilary Clinton, or it may be that a black male is selected as candidate for the office of president within the next few decades.

The United States has never had a woman President. In fact every American President has been a Caucasian male. This is surprising considering the fact that most countries have had a woman at the head of the state. England had Margaret Thatcher, Germany has Angela Merkel, India had Indira Gandhi, Pakistan had Benazir Bhutto Israel had Golda Meir. The list is endless. In all the instances cited above the woman head of state has had a significant role to play in changing the course of the nation. Most women heads of state have had the reputation of being tough and uncompromising when confronted with tricky situations. Golda Meir of Israel was in charge when Israel was facing tumultuous times in the 1970s.

Hillary Clinton looks like a good bet to become the first American President. She enjoys a significantly large potential voter base. She is expected to play a major part in the next elections.

I think there is always the possibility for a woman president, but not necessarily Hillary Clinton. I am not her biggest fan but honestly the only reason bill Clinton did so well was because Hillary did his campaigns!
