The term 'Pb' is used to represent lead in chemistry and the term can trace its origin in the Latin word 'plumbum' which means lead.

Usually the word is used in the periodic table to represent the chemical element and the purpose of this form of representation is to make it easier for a learner to understand the element easily as he is able to use it while finding a solution of a problem through an equation.

Lead is a toxic, heavy and malleable poor metal and usually it comes in bluish-white colour. But it changed to dull grey when it is exposed to air. There are various uses of the element in our life and you can find its use in lead-acid batteries, building construction and various other things.
