The Blackmore Vale is a small region in the very North of Dorset, England and is considered to be an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Situated in the far north of the Southern county, the area overlaps some of the adjacent Northern county Wiltshire.

The area takes in two recognised towns, Gillingham and Shaftesbury, with the latter being famous for the picturesque Gold hill and the former one of the fastest developing towns in the South of England.

The area is also dotted with small villages, some of which include Motcombe, East Stour and Milton on Stour.

The area is made up mostly of farm land, with diary farming being one of the biggest industries in the area. In the foot and mouth crisis a few years ago, the area was badly stricken, with access to most farms and country roads severley effected in an attempt to prevent any cross contamination.
