    The astrological sign on the Chinese zodiac is determined by the year that you were born in. This however is based on a Chinese calendar year. On this calendar, January 1st is not the beginning of the year. The beginning of the year for the Chinese calendar changes dates according to the calendar that many of us are used to. The beginning of the Chinese year generally occurs after January 20th. So if your birthday falls before January 20th, you can generally assume that your Chinese sign can be taken from the year before. If your birthday falls after January 20th.
