What Is The Largest Town Or City In Kent?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The largest town on Kent Island is Stevensville. To an approaching visitor, the rustic docks and the weathered seafood houses may be a complete put-off but it actually adds to its quaint if rural beauty.

Stevensville has several beautiful historic structures that have since been restored. These include the Stevensville Train Depot as well as Maryland's oldest congregation of Christ Church that was founded in 1631. Cockey's Lane and the Cray House with its gambrel roof (dating back approximately 1839) are other must-sees. The Cray house incidentally is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There is a county visitor center that is located in Main Street.
Kent Island is a historic place in Maryland as it is the oldest English settlement in Maryland and the third oldest in the United States.

Jamestown, Virginia and Plymouth, Massachusetts were the first settlements. All Kent Island's communities are unincorporated but Stevensville and Chester are generally considered towns as they have many of the characteristics of the other towns in the area.
