Rumi's family settled at Konya after several migrations when he was about eighteen years. When Rumi turned 25 he was sent for advanced education to Aleppo, and later to Damascus.
He succeeded his father as a professor at the famous Madrasah at Konya when he was 24 yrs of age. He continued quenching his thirst for Education till he was 40 years old. Jalal al-Din Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Ibn Muhammad Ibn Hussein al-Rumi found the famous Maulvi Order in Tasawwuf. He conveyed this through poetry, his most famous book being Mathnawi. He became extremely famous for his mystical insight, religious knowledge and Persian poetry.

His book, Mathnawi, is extremely famous as the largest mystical exposition in the form of verse. It also discusses Sufism and sheds light on the relationship between Sufis and the worldly life. Rumi makes this book interesting and understandable by giving various examples from everyday life.
