My Long Hair Chihuahua Is Pregnant How Long Will It Take For Her To Give Birth?

Around 62 to 65 days

It will take 58-69 days with an average of 63 days. This is true for all dog breeds including chihuahua. You should get confirmation of her pregnancy by visiting a vet. Your dog should also get abdominal ultrasound after 50 days of pregnancy. This ultrasound will help you to know litter size and birth defects.

She will start to show signs of labor 8-48 hours before start of whelping. These signs are

1. Reduction in rectal temperature below 100 F
2. Loss of appetite
3. Agitation
4. Restlessness and pacing

You should get help from the vet in the delivery of puppies because it can be complicated. It is necessary to get appointment from vet well before time.

I actually have a long hair chi that had pups this morning. I'll share my "normal" experience with you:

Apr 9 - 7PM temp dropped to 97.9 she also refused to eat supper which is VERY unlike her
9PM water broke (clear liquid)
10PM she began to shiver and nest vigorously. No signs of real pain but she just kind of slept for a while as she shivered (we didnt know this was normal at the time but the vet said she was resting for the long night ahead)
Apr 10 - 5AM Began panting (this was a first she never pants)
               6AM began pushing (hate to say this but she looked like she was pooping but she was really pushing trust me you will know)
               8AM First puppy arrived. She rested for while till the next pup. We called the vet he said if nothing else by noon bring her in.
                9:30AM Second pup came out (oh and by this pup she had the whole "cleaning up" down)
                10AM Last puppy was out. She did shiver for a bit after this but once again all okay

She was considered a "normal" delivery without assistance but remember all deliveries are different and you should definitely have a vet on call! Hope this helps you!
