Hamlet is the protagonist in Shakespeare's famous tragedy 'Hamlet'. He was a Danish prince whose father has been killed and whose mother has married his uncle, who has succeeded his father as the next King of Denmark. The whole play is about Hamlet's grief over his father's death, his disgust over his mother's prompt marriage to his uncle and his despair over his inability to kill his father's killer. The play is about a gentle soul burdened with the duty of avenging his father's death but finding it impossible to do so. In the end, he ends up killing his uncle and his enemy, Laertes, but also gets killed himself by the latter's poisoned sword.
