When Was Crawley Town Football Club Founded?

    Crawley Town Football Club was founded in 1896. The nickname of the club is the 'Red Devils' due to the colour of the side's home kit. 'The Red Devils' is featured as part of the club's crest.

    It played as an amateur side, until becoming professional in 1962.

    For the first fifty years of the club's existence, Crawley Town played in either the West Sussex League or the Mid-Sussex League.
    In 1951, they joined the Sussex County League, followed by the Metropolitan League.
    One year after achieving professional status in 1962, Crawley Town joined the Southern League.

    Crawley Town play their home games at the ground of the Broadfield Stadium which has a capacity just shy of 5,000 people.

    The club currently plays in the Conference National division of the Football Conference. In the 2005/06 season, Crawley Town FC finished in 17th place in the table.
