    The term Aussie icon is used to define the popular symbols of Australian culture. The word Aussie is the short form of the word Australian. There are many popular Aussie icons.

    Some of the most popular Aussie icons are the Australian national flag, the golden wattle, the flags and emblems of each of the six Australian states (namely the states of New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia), the Australian coat of arms, the kangaroo, the Boxing Kangaroo, Bondi Beach, Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, the koala, Blinky Bill, the Christmas beetles, the Bondi Panorama, the Great Barrier Reef, Uluru (which is also called Ayers Rock), Waltzing Matilda, the boomerang, the Akubra hat, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Harbour Panorama, the Sydney Opera House, QANTAS, the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Ned Kelly (who was nicknamed the Iron Outlaw), the Australian kelpie, the Southern Cross and Australian Rules Football.
