The God of the River Nile was Osiris, and also the God of death, life and fertility. Prayed to for generations by Egyptians, as it was he who determined if the river would rise and flood the agricultural plains. He was it who judged the dead in the after life. Osiris was said to be the father of Anubis and Horus. His wife was Isis the Goddess of royalty and motherhood. She was the mother of Horus. Anubis was the outcome of a mistaken infidelity of Osiris with Nephthys.

The other Egyptian Gods included Amun-Ra the King of the Gods, Aten or the sun god, Bast the cat goddess linked to fertility, Seth the God of violence and storms even considered the God of war, Ptah the God of the craftsmen, Ra the sun God and many others.
