"Emigrants" is the plural of emigrant and refers to those who emigrate. Its synonyms include to émigré, émigré and outgoer. It is also similar to one who migrates.
Emigrants refers to a person who emigrates and is thus related to the word emigrate. "Emigrate" means to leave one place, country, area etc and to relocate or settle in some other. Emigrate is derived from the Latin word "emigrare" which means "to move".
It means to leave ones native land for some other place.
There are various reasons why people emigrate and the concept of emigration should not be confused with refugees. They could be seeking a better life, more opportunities, for their health, other economic reasons etc.
Where emigrants are concerned, most travel from the underdeveloped countries of Asia, Latin America and Africa to the developed nations of Europe, Australasia and North America.
