    Billie Piper is an English actress who is best known for playing the character of Rose Tyler in the BBC television series 'Doctor Who'.

    Billie Paul Piper was originally registered as having the name Lianne Piper, but her parents changed their minds three weeks after her birth on the 22nd of September 1982 in Swindon.

    As a teenager, she starred in an advert for Smash Hits magazine. At the age of 15, Piper was offered a record contract and in 1998, she released the single 'Because We Want To'. This was followed up by 'Honey to the Bee'.

    Her second album was not successful and Piper decided to quit the music scene. She embarked on a successful acting career in 2003 and landed a role in the BBC's adaptation of 'The Canterbury Tales'. This was followed up by playing the part of Hero in another BBC adaption of 'Much Ado About Nothing', before being cast as Rose in 'Doctor Who' in 2005.

    In her personal life, Piper was married to Chris Evans, who she met as a guest on his 'TFI Friday' show. They divorced in September 2006.
