    E.S.C means Economic and Social Council. The council composed of 54 members, 18 of which are elected each year by the General Assembly for a three year term office. Retiring members are eligible for immediate re-elections. It is aided by separate regional commissions for Europe, Asia, the Far East, Latin America and Africa.

    I.C.J means International Court of Justice. It is the principle judicial organ of the United Nations. It had as its predecessor the permanent Court of International Justice, instituted by the League of Nations and dissolved in 1946. The function of the international Court of Justice is to decide in accordance with international law, such disputes as are submitted to it. Only states may be parties in case before the court not individuals. The judgments of the court are delivered at public sittings held in the great hall of justice of the peace palace. It comprises of 15 judges, No. 2 of whom may be nationals of the same state elected to nine years term by the General Assembly and Security Council, voting independently. It sits at The Hague, in the Netherlands.
