Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A newsreader gives his or her name before the news as a way of formal introduction. This is considered good manners and also gives the audience/ viewers an idea as to who the news reader is. This gives the news reader a unique identiry.
Some viewers may want to write, phone, fax, email or text commments on something the news reader has said or done and this is easier if they  know the persons name.
It's standard practice when appearing in front of any audience to introduce yourself and it helps to build a relationship with the viewers.
Many people want to know the names of people who appear on television as it makes things more personal for them.
