Among the 106 countries with the highest inflation rates in Consumer products, Pakistan ranked number 36 at the beginning of the year 2007. During the year, there was a lot of increase in the inflation rates and the prices of products increased significantly.

Inflation effects the wage earners very badly because when inflation increases, there is no noticeable increase in their wages. In the year 2007, the prices of wheat, sugar, oil, beef, milk, chicken, mutton and countless other products surged up in Pakistan. Other than these items, the house rents also became high and the expenditures on transport also increased for the people. As a result of all these increases, the cost of living became very high for everyone but the people who suffer most from this are the wage earners whose income doesn’t increase, hence their buying ability decreases. The wage earners are the ones who suffer more because there are no particular laws being practiced according to which the wage of the people should be increased with the inflation.
