    Norway is one of the more sparsley populated countries of the world. There are certain counties which experience a negative population growth rate. The present population of Norway stands at 4.5 million inhabitants. 75% of the population resides in urban areas and 25% in rural areas. The most populated cities in Norway are Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Kristiansand, Fredrikstad, Tromsø and Drammen.

    Norway has Sweden, Finland and Russia as neighbors. Historically Norway is known to have existed for more than 12,000 years. Nearly one-third of the country lies to the north of the Arctic Circle. The major chunk of the population is Nordic. Around 40,000 individuals form the Sami people which a large ethnic minority group. Norway's official languages are Bokmål, Nynorsk and the Sámi language. The constitution of Norway places the monarchy as the head of the state but the Government is run as a parliament. Christianity is the dominant religion and Islam is largest minority.
