If 300 Jelly Beans Cost You X Dollars. How Many Can You Purchase For 50 Cents At The Same Rate?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    You can write it as a proportion. Let's say the number of jellybeans you want to purchase is n.
      n/.50 = 300/x
    Multiplying both sides by 0.50 gives you
      n = .50*300/x
      n = 150/x

    At the same rate, you can purchase 150/x jellybeans.
    _____
    The number will only be an integer if x is one of
      1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15, 25, 30, 50, 75, 150.
