Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The word oz is defined as the unit which is used to describe or classify many varieties of fabrics. These classifications are usually done by the weight of the fabric per yard. As a noun, the word Oz is written with the capitalised letter O of the English alphabet. It is an alternate spelling of Aus, which is the short form of Australia.

Most varieties of fabrics are weighed on a scale in a piece which measures about one yard in length. The weight of the fabric is the weight per square yard of cloth. For example, a piece of cloth which measures seven oz. is a very thin and lightweight piece of cloth when it is compared to a ten oz. piece of cloth. A piece of cloth which measures ten oz. is a thicker and heavier piece of cloth than a piece of cloth which measures seven oz.
