Hypothesis is a statement or proposal that can be proven or disproven by experimentation.
For example the Hypothesis then might be, "if a baseball, a basketball, a tennis ball and a golf ball are dropped from the same height, all of the balls will bounce to the same height". (This Hypothesis might not be true).
The hypothesis testing process might be dropping each ball from the same elevation and measuring the height of the bounce. This would then prove or disprove the Hypothesis.
Since this is in the statistics category you might use statistical sampling to prove your hypothesis:
The hypothesis is 23% of all human's have green eyes.
Since it would be difficult to determine the color of every human on the planet, you might look at a smaller sample and use the sample to infer the proof:
If 230 out of 1000 have green eyes the hypothesis is proven.
If 23 out 1000 have green eyes it is disproven.
