Last June we visited Skardu. In Skardu the scenic beauty is simply captivating. We stayed at a hotel which was cheaper than the others. By next morning we were fresh enough to visit other places. Kalash valley is internationally famous for the primitive culture of its inhabitants. We reached there on jeeps. On our way we were greatly impressed by the grandeur of mountains, scenic beauty, and fragrance of fresh atmosphere and by the skill of the driver.

When we reached there, the chief of the tribe welcomed us. A young man told us about their history and culture. We saw their women who wore fantastic dresses. Their headdresses were unique and prepared with great labour. Their population was about one thousand. They told that they did not like to visit other places. Their way of selecting a spouse is primitive yet quite natural. The boys and girls select future life partner in annual fair with mutual agreement. They live a simple yet contented life. They don't go for material possessions.

Kalash people are kind and sociable. They welcome the guests with open arms. When we try to give them a few gifts they accepted them with much reluctance. In the evening we returned to Skardu town for night stay at the hotel and making program
for visit to another distant place.

Well, I am Pakistani and live in Lahore, the capital of the province Punjab and second largest city of Pakistan with respect to population. I visited northern areas of Pakistan last year in august. I visited Hunza Valley and Khanjrab Pass (Border of Pak-China). We were 6 people. We started our journey from Lahore on 5th august 2006 and went to bus station, got our bus and went to Rawalpindi, a city near to Pakistan capital Islamabad from where we could get a bus for northern areas. Then we rested there and got our next bus to Gilgit at 16:00 o clock on local time.

We stayed at Mansehra, Basham, Chilaas and then we reached Gilgit at 09:00 o clock next day. We got another bus and reached Hunza Valley at 14:00 o clock. Then we rested there in a cheap hotel and on the very next day we arranged a jeep for our next trip. We saw Gulmit, passed a glacier and reached on a lake, it was very beautiful surrounded in mountains. Then we reached at Sust (the last town in the way to China on Karakoram Highway).

We rested there at night and went to Khanjrab Pass (the border of Pak-China) next day, at evening we reached back to Sust and went to a near by mountain for tracking. Next day we went to Kalandarchi Fort (Built in the era of british during second world war) and came back to Hunza and went to Duiker, the top sight seeing place in Hunza and saw Alteet and Balteet fort in Hunza and came back the same day.
