I DON'T KNOW, I DON'T KNOW!  But that is my most favoritest movie EVER!  I have watched it probably 25 or 30 times since it's original showing in 1975 when I went to the drive-in theatre and watched it!  Tell us the answer!!

Jaws the movie was based on Jaws the novel by Peter Benchley.

Oh, um, embarrassed now because I just re-read the question and see
that you're referring to the name of the SHARK not the title of the
      movie.  Silly me.

Can I ask a question in order to give a more educated guess?
If so, the question is; Is Speilberg an acquaintance of yours?
