The Victor Meyer apparatus basically is the typical laboratory process used for determining the molecular weight of a volatile liquid. It was created by Viktor Meyer.
The apparatus comprises of a vertical glass column enclosed in a steam jacket, along with a minute bed of sand in the bottom of the column to guard the glass base. A delivery tube leads from the crown of the column to a gas jar in a hydralic trought. At the top of the column, you will find a tiny glass phial along with a ground glass stopper holding a weighed quantity of the solution to be tested rests one a device know as spoon, this device can be rotated to discharge the phiall.
When the spoon is turned around, the phial falls to the base of the column.
