If I Were A User Of Cocaine More Than 4 Yrs Ago Would It Still Show Up In A Hair Drug Test If Taken 1/25/08?

A friend of mine recently applied for a job. He was sent for a drug test to a nearby lab. No one told him that he would be tested by means of a hair follicle test under his arm pit. He had earlier applied deodorant under his arms. He later was denied the position he applied for due to positive cocaine use. He has not used any cocaine in more than 5 years. Do you mean to tell me that he will always test positive for cocaine if tested by hair follicles?

The 'hair follicle test' tests for pot, coke, meth, PCP, and opiates. Usually a hair on the head is tested- this would test for drugs up to 90 days ago. Hair can also be tested on the rest of the body (like in the arm pit-ouch!). Hair on the rest of the body generally grows slower than on the head, so it can show positive for a year after taking drugs. Here's a great link that shows more information on it: Hair Follicle Test

No, the cocaine wouldn't show up in hair follicles after that long, your hair grows approx 1 inch per month so it would all be grown out.
