Is The Front Cover Of A Book Important?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There is the famous saying 'never judge a book by its cover'. This is partly true, as a book could have a cover that isn't appealing, but still contain a very good story.

However, the cover of a book is important when it comes to marketing. If a book has a really dull cover and it is advertised everywhere, then it won't capture peoples attention. If it has a really eye-catching front cover, then people are more likely to be interested.

This is where the role of the designer/illustrator comes in. It is their job to make the book look its best. A book with an interesting cover will market much better.

If you are using a photographs of yourself on the book jacket, then make sure it is a very good quality photograph and that you look your best. Whatever you do, don't use blurred photographs.
