Hut is a word that signifies a small and simply built house and most of the times you will find it to be made of thatched roof.
Usually we don't find huts in cities and they are typical characteristics of a village. Most of the times the people residing in villages are a bit poorer when we compare them with that of the people from cities, and the reason behind that disparity in income can be attributed to the lack of development. As the cost a making a hut is very low when we compare them with that of a house made of bricks, people from lower income opt for a hut as they can save on money with this kind of house and villages have more huts.
