I'm Studying For My GCSEs But My Parents Keep Pressuring Me To Get A Job. Should I?
Answers
Obviously you are busy with study at the moment, and getting a job right on the brink of your GCSEs would add to the pressure, and also cut down your study time.
Wait until after you have completed your GCSEs. When they are over, you can think about getting a small job for the summer before you go to college.
If you are planning to go into full time work straight after you finish school, then you might want to look for a job which you really want to do which offers training opportunities. That way you can build up your learning, and your parents can't complain as you'll be working as well.
If you decide to go to college, then you only need to think about working if you are moving out or if you really need the extra income. Jobs do give you experience and it won't harm to have a small one, as long as it doesn't interfere too much with your studies at college.
For now though, wait until you have finished your GCSEs and the pressure is off, and then look for a job.
