Hi
A wasp that is neither a is any insect of the order Hymenoptera and suborder Apocritabee nor ant. The suborder Symphyta, known commonly as sawflies, differ from members of Apocrita by having a broader connection between the mesosoma and metasoma. In addition to this, Symphyta larvae are mostly herbivorous and "caterpillarlike", whereas those of Apocrita are largely predatory or "parasitic" (technically known as parasitoid).

Similar to hornets, bees. Live in a type of hive, but collects nothing there. Large stinger, visible if stung. G

Cow Patty, Those "Velvet Ants" or "Cow Ants" all over "Hog Valley" and T-vill are wingless Wasp! When I was Skydiving and you'd roll up your chute to repack, it after a jump and you'd pick up one with your chute and BAM!
Wasps are one of the most diverse groups of insects with over 200.000 species. The wasp is any animal in the order Hymenoptera and suborder Apocrita that is not a bee or an ant. Most people are familiar with the common wasp, Vespula vulgaris; yellow jackets, of genera Vespula and Dolichovespula; and the European hornet, Vespa crabro. It is believed that wasps evolved in the Triassic Period some 225 million years ago.
As insects, wasps are invertebrate arthropods that reproduce with a larval stage. The wasp has two pairs of wings that it uses to fly ad female wasps have a stinger. Stingers are evolved from a female sex organ called the ovipositor and this is why males do not have a stinger. Many people can attest to a wasp sting being painful and unpleasant with a burning sensation. A few species produce a sting that is toxic enough to kill. The Asian giant hornet is one of these. One Japanese entomologist called Masato Ono described their sting as being “like a hot nail being driven into my leg.” Wasps do not have barbs on their stingers and this means that the stinger remains intact allowing them to sting repeatedly.
Wasps are extremely useful for pest control because there is a wasp parasite for almost every pest insect. This means that wasps and their larvae are the leading parasites of the insect world. 10 – 20% of insects are parasites but wasps make up the majority by a very wide margin. All wasps are parasitic during their larval stage but very few are also parasitic in their adult form. They tend to be very small, only about 1/100 to ¾ inch in length. These wasps will usually go unnoticed by humans despite doing a rather efficient job of killing many pest insects.
Both predatory asocial wasps and social wasps that aren’t parasitic build nests. Their nests are made from a paper that they create by chewing wood pulp and mixing it with saliva. As many people will be aware, wasps choose sheltered areas such as attics or holes in the ground to build their nests. They require a direct path to the outdoors, so the next will be easily accessible to wasps but not necessarily humans. Wasps make little cells to lay their eggs in. Asocial wasps will lay their eggs and abandon them and social wasps will continue to interact with the eggs until they transform into larvae and grow into adults.

Their is one no one minuted It's called a "Velvet Ant" or a "Cow Ant" and the colors are reversed From Male to Female! It has no wings, and if you step on them or even stomp they'll just run off unhurt!
They definitively have one heck of a sting too!
Smooth, they are all over 'Hog Valley" so I know you've seen them! And their sing is VERY bad too!
