I Got A Speeding Ticket, But How Do I Know If I Got Points?

Would it say on the ticket how many points i got? Would the officer tell me or what. I'm taking it to court and pleading guilty only because i don't want the points on my record. Is that a good idea?

Your points will be accessed according the law of your state. For example, in Florida you have 30 days to either pay the ticket, and get points assessed, or protest your ticket and go to court with no points accessed. The law also give you relaxation if this is your first speeding ticket.

Your points are accessed thru the department of motor vehicles. If you plead out, and pay the ticket, it depends on how fast the court system is in your town. Usually after 30 days, you can contact the DMV in your town, and they will tell you the points. The only way to have points removed from your licence, is to go to traffic school. This is a 3 to 4 hour class that costs anywhere from 50 to 100 dollars and once completed, can remove up to half your points, but keep in mind, you can only go once every three years, so if you get a speeding ticket that's 3 pts, don't race down to traffic school, cause you cant go again for 3 years. Wait until you build up some points.
