Chickenpox is a common childhood infectious illness. It causes a blistery rash that can cover the whole body, or just product a few spots. It is caused by a virus so makes you feel feverish and 'fluey'.

This same virus causes the condition shingles, which can occur later in life when the chickenpox virus, which stays dormant in nerves after the original bout of chickenpox, becomes reactivated.
