Thy will be done' is a common petition in Christianity. It is an important line in the 'Lord's Prayer' which is recited the world over. With this simple line believers beseech God, to let all they, his humble servants do, in addition to all that comes to pass in their loves, may be not according to their will, but be according to what He believes is fitting.
The line is simply but filled with humbleness and understanding. It is highly relevant even in this day and age where people find less and less time for prayer. We need to understand that while we repeatedly err in our desires, God has his own plan and knows what's best for us. Most theologians believe it implies praying for God's revealed will to be done. That is, that His commands and desires should be obeyed.
