Is Jurassic Park Based On A Novel?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Yes it is. Michael Crichton is the author of the novel Jurassic Park, which was published in 1990, 3 years before it was adapted into a film by Steven Spielberg. The book has one sequel, The Lost World, which was published in 1995, and also adapted to a film in 1997 again by Steven Spielberg.

Universal studios paid Michael Crichton $2 million dollars for the rights to the first novel in 1990, before it was even published. There are rides based on Jurassic Park in the Universal Studios theme parks in Universal City, California, Orlando, Florida and Osaka. Steven Speilberg designed Jurassic Park: The Ride whilst he was working on the film. The ride premiered at Universal Studios Hollywood, and at the time cost over $85 million to design and build. An entire section of Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida is dedicated to Jurassic Park, and has a main ride called Jurassic Park River Adventure. It also has lots of smaller rides and attractions based on the Jurassic Park series.
