What Happens If There Are Behavioural Problems With A Child Enrolled In A Summer Camp?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are camps that are specially equipped to deal with children who have any number of behavioural problems and staff are given appropriate training to deal with this problem. Nevertheless, all camps--at one point or another--will have to face children who misbehave.

There are a number of ways to deal with these situations, but under no circumstances are staff members ever permitted to strike the child, to withold his/her food, or to employ any type of physical punishment. Some forms of discipline may include a "time out," where the camper is removed from an activity for a temporary period of time, or he/she may be sent to bed early. In truly problematic cases, counsellors should bring the camper to the camp's director. If a child poses a risk to him/herself or to others, most camps will contact the parents and may ask that they take their child home.
