Off course the history of India and the history of Muslims are different until the Muslim came and ruled some time on India. The origin of Muslim history is not India but it is basically from Arab and in present day it is Saudi Arabia. The history of Muslims starts from emerging of Islam and then it the glorious period of Muslim history came just within the 50 years of emergence of Islam and Muslim took the control of many regions and ruled their justly.

And the Indian history is very old it is dated back for more than 2000 years B.C. later on when Islam came into India the Muslim and Indian history intermingled with each other at that point. But it is very important to note that Muslim history in India was only a short part of the whole history of Muslims. It was not the total history of Muslims. That's why Indian history is different than the Muslim history. So you must understand the fact that Muslim history in India is only a small part of Muslim history in general.
