Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Weathering process is the process by which various minerals and rocks on the surface or below the surface are decomposed or broken down due to both physical and chemical reactions. This process is caused by the atmospheric forces and factors like changes in temperature or humidity etc. In physical weathering a chemical reaction does not take place instead the rocks and mineral’s physical appearance weathers. The various factors in the environment that can result in weathering include acid rain etc. An example of weathering is the breakdown of granite into clay due to these atmospheric forces. The physical and chemical disintegration can also work together.
