A Rock is basically a naturally occurring thing that is usually an aggregate of minerals or Mineraloids. The outer solid layer of the Earth is made up of rocks.
Rocks have three types based on their mineral and chemical composition, their texture etc. These three types are:
- Igneous
- Sedimentary
- Metamorphic.
The Igneous rocks are formed by cooled Molten Magma. Whereas the Sedimentary rocks are formed when clastic sediments and other organic matter precipitates and particulate matter is compacted.l
Whereas on the other hand, Metamorphic rocks are formed when any rock type is exposed to different temperatures and pressure ranges.

In geology, rock is a naturally occurring solid aggregate of minerals and/or mineraloids.
The Earth's outer solid layer, the lithosphere, is made of rock. In general rocks are of three types, namely, igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. The scientific study of rocks is called petrology, and petrology is an essential component of geology. The three types of rocks are:
>Sedimentary Rocks--Conglomerate,Shale etc.
>Igneous Rocks--Granite,Pumice etc.
>Metamorphic Rocks--Schist,Marble etc.
