Where Do I Hook Up My Printer On The Computer?

The new printers connect using a USB cable. They are easy to set up and use. All you do is install the software driver disk, plug in the USB cable and you are ready to print. The most sophisticated ones use an Ethernet cable. Connect the Ethernet cable to one of your router ports and you can use the router as a Wi-Fi print server. All Wi-Fi enabled computers can print to it.
If you have an old printer, like me- I have an Epson ActionLaser 1500, then you have a 25pin parallel port to 36 pin Centronics connector. Connect the Centronics side of the cable to the printer, and the parallel port side to the computer. Go into Windows, Control Panel, Printers and Install Printers. Follow the Windows Wizard and look up your printer driver in the list of printers, almost all of the legacy printers are listed. If yours is not then you may get a driver from the manufacturer's website. Windows is supposed to do that when you choose Look Up Drivers on Web, but most of the time it does not. Once the driver is installed then print a test page and you are set to go.
