      Oxides of sulphur and nitrogen are important pollutants of air . When they dissolve in water of atmosphere they get oxidised in acids and fall on ground as ACID RAINS .Acid rains is a mixture of  H2SO4 and HNO3 in water .
               Acid rains increases soil acidity affecting soil flora and fauna cause acidification of lakes and streams affecting aquatic life ,production of crop ,and human health . Acid rains also corrode buildings ,monuments ,bridges ,statues etc Due to acidity , levels of heavy metals such as aluminium ,manganese ,zinc ,cadmium ,lead ,copper ,increases in soil and water beyond safe limit .This kills many bacteria ,blue green algae ,fishes etc disrupting ecological balance .
      SO2     -----------> SO2 +  H20  ----------> H2SO4
                                                                                  +
      NO 2   ------------> NO2 + H2O  --------->  HNO3
                                                                                   !
                                                                         ACID RAINS
