Where Did James Watt Invent His Steam Train?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

James Watt invented the steam engine in his native Scotland, although strictly speaking, his invention was the separate condenser, which made the steam engine much more efficient, and a practical proposition for generating mechanical power. Through most of his working life, he worked on static engines to deliver power to mills and factories. Although he did obtain a patent for a steam locomotive in 1784, it is almost certain that the actual work was done by one of his employees, William Murdoch. Indeed, at the time of his death in 1819, he had not directly been involved with any actual steam train.
